Rodney's parents, Kathy Faye Riles and Oscar Dean Reynolds, met in church when they were kids. They dated for a while, but her parents did not approve of him. So, when they learned of her pregnancy they eloped in Columbus, Mississippi in 1967. Kathy was only sixteen and Dean (Oscar) only eighteen. On March 12th, 1968 Rodney Dean Reynolds was born in Columbus, Georgia where he lived out his childhood. It was a typical southern childhood filled with gospel and country/western music and the pain of being shifted back and forth between mom's house and dad's house. Country music always helped him through his hard times. He sang often in his mother's Pentecostal church and let his dream of singing country carry him through his storms of life. The first song he ever sang publicly was "Have You Kissed any Frogs today" when he was eight years old at a church youth camp. As a child, he used to sit and watch his Uncle Ricky play the guitar and sing country/western hits. Ricky was an idol and a father figure to Rodney all of his childhood. He was Rodney's greatest influence in music. When he sat and watched Ricky, he dreamt of being like his idles Keith Whitley, Marty Robbins, Freddy Fender, and Conway Twitty. In January 1982, when Ricky was only twenty-eight years old, he lost his life to cancer. Although at times it was hard, Rodney kept his faith and knew that someday he was going to be somebody important. With hopes of rising above, Rodney moved away and joined the army when he was eighteen years old. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne division. A year later, he married Donna Haese. During their marriage, Donna was in the air force and they were transferred to Dayton, Ohio where he has remained and made a life for himself. They had a son, Kyle Donovan Reynolds, on November 28, 1987 and Rodney's dreams were put on hold while he tried to make ends meet to provide for his new family. Due to irreconcilable differences and the stress from the stillbirth of he and Donna's second son, they divorced in 1992. He was soon in another relationship with a woman named Trish which never turned into marriage. He worked several different jobs during that time to pay the bills and even tried college. But, his heart is in creativity and music, not in textbooks and worldly knowledge. He worked as a correctional officer, car salesman, cook, and finally found that he had a talent and love for construction. In 1996 he and Trish parted ways and he met Kelly Riddlebarger. They married on April 5,1997 and had a daughter, Liberty Adriana Reynolds in August of that year. Even though Rodney loved construction, the stresses of being self-employed at a very demanding and seasonal job with little pay began to take over his life. Now, that he was doing well for himself and was settled down in life, he could afford to put time, money, and soul into his dream. So, in 1998 at the age of thirty, he invested in sound equipment and began singing in bars in Dayton, Ohio with another woman. After losing two singing partners he grew weary of the bar life. He wanted more and he knew he could be more. So, with the support of his wife and friends, he began writing his own music and went headstrong towards the mainstream of national country music. He does not plan on stopping until his dream and his passion are fulfilled. Rodney Reynolds is a man of strong determination and willpower. He is energetic, big-hearted, creative, and very talented. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
